Fall Maintenance Tips: Furnace Tune-Up & Gutter Cleaning

The leaves are changing, days are getting shorter and the undeniable Autumn chill is in the air.  Two important preventative measures should be taken at this time of year. First, prepare your furnace for the hard work ahead and second, clear those falling leaves from your gutters and downspouts! A professional HVAC Technician should be hired to ensure your furnace’s efficiency and heating output with a complete system inspection and tune-up. Also as important, a gutter cleaning service should clean out the leaves and debris from the whole gutter and downspout system. It’s best to inspect and clean the gutters a few times during the fall, especially if there are many leafy trees around your house. If gutters remain clogged, water will spill over them and onto the ground next to the foundation, which may cause damage to the foundation. Gutters and downspouts should be kept clean and should direct water away from the foundation, as well as from walkways and driveways, so that they do not become slippery or icy. The Lowes Home Improvement video will illustrate how the gutters should be cleaned and the Daily Web TV video illustrates the importance of a  Fall furnace checkup.

  1. Thanks for helping me know more about my furnace. Mine is on the fritz and started making a lot of noises last night. I wanted to maybe repair it myself but now I may leave it to a professional. I need to spend some time finding someone I trust now.
