Maintenance Tip: Window Insulation

With the cold winter upon us, keeping your home warmed efficiently is of the utmost importance. Windows can be a large contributor to heat loss and allowing cold air in. Inspect your window systems. If your windows are not double pane, make sure you replace the screens and install the storm windows. An inexpensive yet effective way to decrease cold air drafts from windows is installing plastic-film kits from your local hardware store. This You Tube video illustrates the process. This is only a single season solution so the film should be removed after the heating season and a new kit installed at the beginning of every winter. Of course any damaged window system should be repaired or replaced. ACMM Maintenance does provides a professional window repair and replacement department and will provide a no cost quote for your home.
